Welcome to Luperón
The Luperón harbor, west of the tourist town of Puerto Plata is a large enclosed ecologically protected bay with rays, dolphins and manatee’s that come into the harbor now and again or can usually be found out by the entrance and are often seen by the kayak group who leave from our marina often in the mornings, along with needle fish, puffer fish and more that provides excellent shelter for all vessels (cruising boats, power boats, commercial fishing boats and small local fishing boats), year round.
Protected by mangroves, it is known as being one of the best hurricane hole safe zones in the Caribbean and possibly in the world for all vessels during tropical storms as Luperon has never had a direct hurricane hit in recorded history.
The Year Round Safe Marina
Well inside the bay for surge protection year round and full protection during the hurricane season, Puerto Blanco is a fully enclosed marina with the ability to birth vessels with drafts of up to 7ft. The marina is popular for cruiser and local family socials plus hosting lively nights with international and Dominican food, bachata/merengue dancing and much more.
Hence why it’s so well known for many years as the headquarters for the cruising community of Luperon where you can also enjoy awesome social-cultural interaction with families and even dogs are welcome but must be on leads.
Being set in a peaceful, cool, and beautiful garden setting, it is an ideal place for all marina guests and vessels in the bay to do yoga, work from with free wi-fi and data signal plus many cruisers home-school their children here for that very reason.
The Hotel
Puerto Blanco Marina & Hotel has a cool and breezy restaurant, bar, shared lounge and with its beautiful garden setting, it looks out over the marina and bay. The property also has evening entertainment and room service.
At the hotel, the rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a private bathroom plus an American or local breakfast is included in the rates.
