Where the Atlantic Stops and Adventure Starts
Most travelers only see the rough Atlantic waves of the north coast. Luperón is different. Known as the Bahía de Gracia, this bay is a natural sanctuary where the water stays flat and the pace slows down. It is the only place on the island where you can find world-class history, rare wildlife, and hidden beaches all in one protected harbor.
See the Bay From the Water
You can't experience the mangroves or find the hidden sea caves from the shore. We offer rentals directly from the Puerto Blanco Marina docks so you can explore the bay on your own schedule.
Stop by Restaurante Las Velas at the marina to pick out your boat.
Electric Boats
These motors are silent. It is the best way to approach manatees or dolphins without startling them.

Pedal Boats

Rare Wildlife and Secret Spots
Luperón is a thriving ecosystem. The bay is a famous refuge for West Indian manatees. You will often see them grazing in the shallow seagrass near the mangroves. Atlantic spotted dolphins also frequent the mouth of the bay.
The geography here offers two distinct experiences.
Playa Chiquita
Located inside the bay, this beach has no waves. The water is calm and shallow, making it feel like a private lagoon.
Marine Caves
Tucked along the coast, these hidden openings are only accessible by small boat or kayak.
Playa Grande
Just outside the bay's mouth, this beach offers golden sand and the classic Atlantic surf.
History Next Door: La Isabela
A short drive from the marina takes you to the very beginning of modern history in the Americas. La Isabela is the site of the first European town in the New World, founded by Columbus in 1493. You can walk through the original settlement ruins and see the museum overlooking the ocean. It is a quiet, powerful site that feels worlds away from the busy tourist zones.
The Puerto Plata Connection
Luperón gives you peace, but you aren't isolated. Puerto Plata is less than an hour away. You can spend your morning on a quiet boat ride in our bay and your afternoon shopping in the city, visiting the San Felipe Fortress, or taking the cable car up the mountain. It is the perfect balance of natural seclusion and city convenience.
